What it's about: Superman continues his quest to end the problems of the world by taking it over. He and his network of superheros have deployed super-power pills to fuel a world-wide super-soldier surveillance group. Batman's forces are marshaling their strength and seeking a way to strike back. The Guardians of Oa have finally decided it's time to become involved. Can the Earth survive being in the middle of an intergalactic war? Why I rated it like I did: They are just leaning hard into ridic...
Full review now posted!Surprisingly, this volume was just as fantastic as the first. I was afraid that the quality would plummet after the first volume, as seems to happen with many graphic novel series. Happily, I was wrong! The plot thickens in Year Two of Injustice, and the fight balloons past a global platform and onto a galactic one. The Green Lantern Corps inserts themselves into the mix, and they’re not all on the same side. More heroes fall prey to their confused moral codes, either givi...
The majority of this had to do with characters and conceits from Green Lantern's story. These felt both cheesy and boring to me. It is a far cry from the successful blending of worlds accomplished in Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One. The main exception is this exchange between Ganthet (who seems like the Yoda of Green Lantern's story) and Superman from this collection's third issue:Superman: "What I'm doing is protecting the people."Ganthet: "No, Superman. What You're doing is seeking to contr...
This book had me feeling all the feels! I laughed, I cried, and I was angry. Give Tom Taylor all the comics to write! This series is so good and I’m so mad I waited so long to read it. Especially when I love the video games also! This series has even gotten me to be a Harley Quinn fan, which I’m shocked by. Alllll the stars and recommend it to every comic fan!
At parr with Year One! I enjoyed this a bit more though because I am a huge Green Lantern fan and this has a lot of GL incorporated into it. Can't wait to read Year Three next!
Superman has introduced a new super-human army to police the world (the Nazi-like symbolism is very noticable). Batman is in a hidden location healing from his back injury. The Guardians have taken notice of events on Earth and have recalled Green Lanterns from all over to go investigate. Sinestro is whispering in Superman's ear and the Sinestro Corps is policing the sector for Green Lanterns (fatally). Very bad things are happening, but Batman's resistance is still fighting. They will not give
This was another great story. Here, we're mostly focused on the Green Lanterns, Gotham City, and Sinestro/the Yellow Lanterns. We see some heroes fall and make bad choices, while we've also got villains doing the right thing. It's a very interesting exploration of this idea! It's definitely brutal with lots of death (which makes sense given the videogame). The ladies feature more here, especially Black Canary (but also Harley, Zatanna, Oracle, Batwoman, and Huntress). There was a really hilariou...
A year ago, if you told me that a comic book series based on a fighting video game would be one of my favorite superhero books published, I would call bullshit. But here I am, saying just that. I loved the first book and now, Year Two is just as awesome. Seriously this is great stuff.Superman's policing of the world is getting larger and more totalitarian as he is attempting to control governments and impose martial law in his attempt to rid the world of all crime. Batman is out of commission fo...
*10 or so pages into the story*Sinestro, I fucking hate you!!! (view spoiler)[ How dare you murder Kyle in cold blood (hide spoiler)]!!!Okay, I always know Sinestro is a bad guy, but so far he hadn't done something as outrageous as this! I actually kinda like him. XDMore to come.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
The EMOTION this invokes in me. I'm so angry, I want all the "heroes" that follow Superman to get ripped to shreds right after they see the monsters they've become.
This made me cry. Multiple times.Taylor knows how to handle this whole bunch of characters and give them their time to shine, although the conflict in this volume is more on the external side. And, damn, the stakes are high. The story mainly centers around the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro's corps and the Guardians. I'm not a big fan of DC's intergalactic stuff, but here it was brought to use perfectly. The most interesting thing, though, is how Superman is handled. In Year One, Clark was in most
Wow, I inhaled this in one sitting. Things have deteriorated so quickly (and fully) I don't even know where to begin!Let's start with how much I love Black Canary.Black Canary is so kickass in this volume! Pregnant and fighting Superman. Boss.I still can't believe that Hal stood with Superman after Year One. How could he turn his back on Ollie and Canary like that?...I'm not a huge Green Lantern fan, but I did really enjoy this story and the involvement of the Green Lanter Corps. I FRIGGIN CAN'T...
I hate Superman 😤
Can't believe what is happening in this series!!All the violence, the deaths,... Can't believe DC would come up with something like this.. But I'm glad they did..I read this in almost in 1 sitting.. and I'm sure the next issues will be the same, as it was for year 1 ànd 2 already so :)So, 'nough talk, I'm diving into the next year ;)
Ok I’m so hooked. Haven’t been this hooked in a while. The story just gets wilder and wilder. I can’t even take the time to write this review. On to Year Three!
slow start but paid off in the end.
Wish I was reading the physical copies of these graphic novels so that I can tear and throw them, stamp on them to release my anger, but I don't want to break my tablet until I read this series, so let's wait for the end.
The war continues with many Green Lanterns getting involved so you know Sinestro Corps has to show up. Divided loyalties galore. MY GRADE: B plus to A minus.
Actual review: 4.5This was the most depressing thing I've ever read. Seeing heroes lose themselves gradually in a way that they hit that moment of no return and seeing them do the wrong things for the noble reasons was awful to read. No one wants to see this. This is how hope dies. Having said that, brilliantly written. I loved the concept of a female team fighting for good and I was sad to see the end of many beloved characters. And Superman... I have never been more disappointed in Superman. (...
Fantastic and soooo dark....
