A fun start to an interesting story arc involving Rocket and the other Guardians. I feel there are more questions than answers revealed in this issue. One must ask who is the second raccoon and what do the ex-girlfriends have in store for Rocket? The art is very fun to follow and the dialogue is pretty spot on. It was fun seeing pinky out grenade throwing and Groot getting the bark beaten out if him. I will most likely pick up the next couple of issues of the series.
Heh heh heh. Some laugh out loud moments and the art was amazing. Love Skottie’s work.
I'm not a big fan of Raccoon's sense of humor in this, and the ladies man angle isn't really endearing me. The enemies introduced seem entertaining, and the Starlord bits were good, but it's not my thing. It's too Three Stooges slapstick for me. It was free with my Loot Crate so I gave it a shot.
I loved this! The art was fabulous and the story itself was funny and interesting. Who doesn't love a witty and slightly womanizing racoon?
Yes, he’s got a celebrity voice and will be appearing in Marvel Studio’s next hit movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, out in less than a month. Yes, he’s also part of one of Marvel Comics’ biggest success stories last year, Brian Michael Bendis’ Guardians of the Galaxy comic. But based on Skottie Young’s first issue of Rocket Raccoon, even if none of that were happening, there still should’ve been a Rocket Raccoon comic out YEARS ago because this first issue is an absolute blast, whether you know an...
Pure comedy, hilarious. Rocket is awesome!!!
I did not know anything about Guardians of the Galaxy prior to the movie. Like most people, after having seen it, I was pretty fond of the team, especially of Rocket Raccoon. So I really wanted to pick up that new comic book series about him, expecting pure madness and mayhem.Well, while the madness and mayhem are there, I feel like the first story arc did not deliver. It might be because I didn't read Guardians of the Galaxy before this comic, but the beginning was a little bit confusing to me a...
2.5 stars. Nothing stood out to me, positively or negatively
If I didn't already love Rocket and Groot, I do now!I'm not the biggest fan of superhero comics that aren't big-time, event-ish stories (injustice, infinity war, etc.) but this was full of so much humour, zany in-jokes, and action that I had a blast. Skottie Young's art style is so detailed and fits so well with this kind of story. I should really read more from him.
This is in the “children’s” section at the local library. It’s not really for kids, but it’s entertaining.
I have to admit, I really enjoyed the Free Comic Book Day Rocket Raccoon one shot, so I picked this up in spite of some reservations about the art style (I really liked the art team on the FCBD issue, and knew this one was different). Thankfully all mis-givings about the art were gone only a couple pages in. Young has a great feel for the characters (all the Guardians, not just Rocket) as evidenced by snappy conversations, and his action sequences were easy to read. The book takes itself just se...
Got this in my Loot Crate this summer (with a Loot Crate variant cover) and really liked it, though I would have been less interested if I didn't enjoy GotG so much. Nice beginning and I definitely want to read the whole series, but I'll be waiting until the trade comes out.
Continuing with my admiration and fangirl-ing for the Guardians of the Galaxy, specifically Rocket and Groot, I started this comic after finishing Groot's. I have to say that I'm totally in love with everything here. The story, the characters, the colors and most importantly, the art itself. I just found about Skottie Young few days ago from pinterest cause as you can guess, I'm pinning a lot of Guardians photos back there to use as my phone's wallpaper. Rocket, one of the guardians, defender of...
It's definitely odd with him being the main character when I've only ever seen him in the Guardian movies, but it's really cool at the same time. It's interesting to get a look at him on his own. And this story line seems like it's going to be filled with interesting events!
I really want to read this but don't want to open my sealed variant edition from Loot Crate!
I've always liked small furry animal-people with attitude. Blame early exposure to Jazz Jackrabbit, I suppose.
2.5Kind of rushed mini stories about Rocket that didn't really have a good point to them...Illustrated well, not so greatly written, somewhat enjoyable 👍
This is exactly the way a Rocket Raccoon story should go. It is filled with witty dialog, absurd action and a vivid story in a heightened reality backdrop. Skottie Young does an amazing job creating a narrative that is idyllic for such an absurd character (while surprisingly keeping things grounded)and accompanying the good story with fantastic art. I wouldn't have expected less from the man who brought us x-men babies and toddler avengers.
I love Rocket and Groot. This is the story of Rocket's quest to find out who is framing him for murder, and if there are more of his species still alive. It's funny, the art work is awesome, and it even throws in a bit of tugging at your heartstrings. A great read.
Although this short book starts out humorous, it soon becomes and stays fairly gruesome and sensual/suggestive, particularly for a kid's book.I also did not think it was all that amusing overall partly due to that reason, but also I am not really part of the target audience. Rocket is just a stereotypical self-praising, woman-chasing character, and a lot of the humor is not very original or all that funny I thought.
