An assortment of cliches about high school - not real high school mind you, but the cliches associated with fictional versions of high school such as jock-on-nerd fisticuffs, jock-on-girlfriend fisticuffs, girlfriend-on-jock fisticuffs (not cliche but not original), and stepfather-on-stepson fisticuffs, with a dash of X-Men movie realism thrown in. The hype is real. It's a very simple and nicely depicted story.

Having finished volume one, I feel like the strongest element that this comic has going for it thus far is the artwork. Josh Hood and Brian Level have done an incredible job of making a comic with vibrant artwork that pops and pleases the eyes. A pretty nice read. I want to read the next volume. It has all the usual stuff I hate about comics these days, but for some reason I didn't mind. Lots and lots of issues in the drawings and that happens when you use too much references. She's Asian in one angle and not in the another. Bummer that it doesn't look like we will get a second volume. I'd be interested to see where this could go. I loved that the team included so much cover art in the back showing the process of making a comic series happen. I can see why people might not like this trade, due to the easily unsympathetic "Duncan." Luckily I found him sympathetic because of the authenticity in his actions, often fuck ups, in spite of his intentions. I appreciate how a young, naive, egotistical character and violence
