I don't like the form of "humor" this author uses. All I liked in the book were the pictures of the various animals.
Extremely relatable, quite adorable, and very funny, especially if you read the grown up version.
I received a copy of Seriously, You Have to Eat courtesy of the publisher in exchange of a review. What another cute children's version by Adam Mansbach! I love the adult versions of his books, because I like to swear, but the friendly versions allow me to share the fun with my kids. As we read this, we kept pointing out how each of the pages represented my two daughters, because let's face it- every parent goes thru the battle that is called meal time at some point during child rearing. Not only...
A cleaned-up version of the other one.
This is the Go the F*** to sleep book that you could actually read to your child. The illustrations are not my favorite but for a parody book they work. The rhymes can be harsh, but i don’t care. This is meant to make adults laugh, and it does that quite well.
Seriously, You Have To Eat is a hilarious tale of the struggle to get your children to eat. This book is definitely one for the adults! The concept would be lost upon most children but it's brilliant. I will need to buy this book for the day V starts to refuse to eat.*V @ 9 months old.
The sequel to Seriously, Just go to Sleep.Very, very cute.
As a single mom of two children, I can relate to children that refuse what you cook, return lunch boxes full, and make late night requests for pancakes. I wish I had the R-rated version, however. That would probably rate 5-stars!
I am not familiar with the original book but this book featured unappealing language to children, pictures that don't support understanding the text for children, and just overall not written with children in mind.Age: Nobody. Seriously.ECRR: None. Do not read this book
I'm not big on the illustration style but I enjoyed reading this aloud to my 4yo. This book struck a chord with us as we are struggling with her eating habits recently.
This is the "clean" version of the picture book. Cute book that parents will probably appreciate more than the kids. I won a copy from goodreads.
This is really an adult "children's" book! I've said everything in this book to myself and my kids several times over the years! Thank you for making me feel I'm not alone in my quest to get my kids to eat and that I'm not the only one who feels like a failure when they won't...
Another enjoyable book by Adam Mansbach for both adults and children. I'm still not sure if I would share this with a child or not. I suppose it would depend on their age, but it is still very funny.
I loved the first book. I read it with the f**k in the title. It was great to know that the profanity wasn't necessary and that it could be enjoyed by children. I'm not prudish by any means and will admit the first book was hilarious with the profanity. I was still able to find this book funny even to laughing out loud.
Seriously, You Have to EatBy Adam Mansbach, Illustrated by Owen BrozmanAkashic Books, 2015$15.95; 32 pagesISBN 978-1-61775-408-1I received this book for free as part of LibraryThing's Early Reviewers program.I appreciate the work of Adam Mansbach, and new illustrator Owen Brozman. Mansbach's seminal work, Go the Fuck to Sleep, was an inspiration to me as a new parent. Mansbach perfectly summed up the way so many of us really felt, but could not express. Perhaps the most perfect version of Mansba...
A fun silly read from the author of Go the f*** to Sleep. It is short and sweet but made me laugh out loud and in 32 pages perfectly encapsulates (in a funny way) the frustration that all parents go through with their children. It's only 32 pages so kind of hard for me to give more than 3 starts but consider me entertained and happy I read it.
A cleaner version of the classic you have to F’ing eat.
The kid friendly version of Seriously, You Have to F**king Eat, is cute.
Chose this more child friendly version to read to Camila. She did not seem to get it since she loves to eat. LOL
Adam Mansbach made waves with his not-kid-friendly, but hilarious Go The F**ck To Sleep and follows it up with You Have To F**cking Eat...Seriously, You Have To Eat is the very toned down, very kid friendly version of that book. Told through sing-song rhymes, Seriously, You Have To Eat is a super fun book that will have readers laughing out loud. Mansbach's quirky, clever humor is unforgettable and absolutely addicting! While Seriously, You Have To Eat is totally kid appropriate, adults will ser...
