One of my most treasured possesions. Terry Gilliam is a creative genius and one of my six favorite Pythons.
Might be slowing losing my taste for Python, or perhaps just for Gilliam.
In some ways, this book is delightful. It offers collection of gorgeous Gilliam images, often culled from Monty Python's Flying Circus. Brian the Badger's explanation of how animation works, driven entirely by crass commercialism, is amusing. On the other hand, the book is something of a dog's breakfast. It feels more like a collection of stuff designed to hit a respectable page count than like a coherent, constructed whole. A must-have for the Python completist, but probably not for anyone else...
Ik vind de animaties van Terry Gilliam eigenlijk het zwakste van alles dat met Monty Python heeft te maken. Ik kan het niet goed uitdrukken waarom, maar ik moet er zelden om lachen en je vraagt je dan ook af waarom ik in godsnaam aan een boek getiteld “Animations of Mortality” door diezelfde Gilliam zou beginnen?
