For many years I had a burning ambition to write a book when eventually my working years ended; after all,

FOUR TIMES A BRIDESMAID - FOUR TIMES A WIFE - FOUR TIMES A WIDOW

was not exactly usual. I thought about it from time to time, but my nephew Bob Archambault prevailed on me to write my story as he was very interested in his mother's English and Irish background and being the last member of my family in England I promised to try.

The year is now 2008 and considering I entered this world in 1921, on paper to me it sounds wonderful. Not that my life has been wonderful. I could describe it in many ways, say eventful, unusual, unconventional, in parts tragic, in parts magical, successful; I could go on at length in this particular vein, but this is supposed to be about my life so I had better make a start and I think it would be as well to start at the beginning.
