I received a free copy through Goodreads Giveaway in exchange for an honest review. This book is super creepy. I was totally waiting at the end for something bad to happen to me after I finished reading it (much like the video in The Ring. I had to stop reading more than once just so I could remind myself that it's only a book. It's a quick and relatively easy read. I loved how it was a collaboration of multiple authors and enjoyed how there were many points-of-views and short stories throughout....
Picking up this book and asking 'who's Jessica?' propels you into a terrifying and disturbing story which has you puzzling together a past that makes you want to leave the light on at night. Shades of Penny Dreadful, but with unique characters and a fascinating take on demonic possession.
This book shook me to my core. Every fear I hold deep inside of me was brought to the surface reading this book. At times I had to put the book down and pace the room to regulate my breathing. But I couldn't stop reading it either. The twisted tale sucked me in and I haven't stopped thinking about it. The mystery surrounding Jessica… her past, her identity, her present… it's intriguing and frightening and perplexing. The writing was so vivid that I not only felt like I was watching the scenes pl...
What makes for a truly terrifying read? For me it isn't all about the cover or some creative monster that jumps out of the closet or hides under the bed. I want the author to know, instinctively what scares the hell out of me. I want to face my worst nightmare staring back at me from the page and wonder how the author knew what I feared most and how to bring it to life. Jessica, will do that to you. If you don't want to sleep at night, perhaps you should read this book. I think what I liked abou...
Jessica was not anything I expected because I never read a book like this before. It's a delicious sampling of many different styles and genres of writing. You get just enough of a taste of each one to leave you not quite satisfied, but eager to experience what's next. I was automatically drawn into piecing together Jessica's story and the mystery of who and what she was. I felt like I was on a horrific and bizarre scavenger hunt as clues and newspaper clippings are planted along the way. Brilli...
Wow! Intriguing read. If you have this as an ebook, it comes with some media and the first one freaked me out. Well done! Get this and read it now. It's quick, but will knock your socks off.
Jessica is such a well written piece of ooey gooey literary goodness. The horror that oozes from the very pages itself grabs you by the throat and makes your heart pound in rhythm with the words. Can you answer me? Who is Jessica B Bell? The story begins with the protagonist Helena discovering Jessica gone and with the help of her niece and an old journal must figure out where she went. The fabulous thing about this book is that you are never treat to interaction with Jessica, rather the tale is...
This quick read has some devilishly fun and twisted tales in it and serves as a good introduction to the world of Jessica. The collaboration of the various authors was done in a clever way and adds to the plot development rather than distracts. If you are looking for a new series to start that dabbles with the macabre and supernatural, this might be what you've been searching for.
Jessica is probably most frightening tale of psychosis and pure evil ever written.By the illustrious team of Helena Hann Basquiat, J.S. Collyer, Lizzi Rogers, Freya McMillan, Hayley Morgan and Hannah Sears, the novel leaves readers thoroughly fascinated, yet completely befuddled. The tale frightens, yet grips with an air of intriguing mystery.Readers gain insight into Jessica's life from the various perspectives of friend and fellow writer Helena, the journal writings of treating psychiatrist Ken...
I don’t know how and where the authors of Jessica came up with what they wrote; perhaps a sinister being actually did whisper tales into those ears which they then put to words. Why Jessica hasn’t yet been turned into a Hollywood movie is beyond me. The grotesque scenes were worse than something from the mind of Steven King. Surely if he ever read this novel, he’d be glowing with envy. The way that this was all brought together was work of pure genius that no other than the mind of Helena H Basq...
I'm a FanHaving read the work of Helena Hann-Basquiat and Lizzi Rogers before, I was already a big fan. Now, I'm truly impressed with how this group of writers wove together this well-crafted collection of stories so well. I loved it and urge you to buy the book and read it, too.
What are stories if not words brought to life? Rich, vivid, disturbing, powerful life. That is what happens in JESSICA, as you journey into a place filled with psychosis, evil, terror, humanity, and images of the nightmares that hide within each of us. Although sometimes confusing, because of the weaving of multiple character voices throughout the texts, the stories created by a number of incredible wordsmiths linger in your mind and your heart long after you put it down.
