Flood Hazard

Flood Hazard

Charles Geer
0/5 ( ratings)
Life for Doug Markel, who lived in a Los Angeles apartment, was filled with problems. Many of them stemmed from the family's cramped living quarters, and indeed the Markels were trying to sell the apartment building as soon as possible. Their hopes were thoroughly dashed, however, when a prospective buyer dropped the deal because, he said, the reservoir in the hills above presented a flood hazard.
Next door Doug was painfully involved with an energetic boxer named Buff. His mistress had died, leaving instructions in her will that Buff should be put to sleep, as there was no one to care for him. With a daring that was matched only by his ingenuity, Doug thought up one scheme after another to keep Buff from the clutches of the law.
Ironically, Doug comes closest to losing Buff when a frightening flood, caused by a break in the reservoir dam, endangers the whole community. The eventual fate of boy and dog makes a dramatic and moving story, and the lively illustrations by Charles Geer add to the excitement.
