T. J. Brearton continues detective Brendan Healy's investigation from his earlier work "Habit" into this intense thriller..."Survivors". Very engaging plot that Brearton uses to weave together characters of very diverse backgrounds. A goodread for sure.
I found the first book and the second book chilling..... I cannot wait until the third comes out.you have here good guys and bad guys, corporate greed, money and power and of course murder.. It's a twisty plot I'm enjoying very much.
I was hoping I'd like this book...I did not.As another reviewer commented, this book was too confusing and fragmented. It left far more questions than answers. Took too long to get to any real "thrilling/suspenseful" parts, and just was a pretty big mess, in my opinion. I won't bother reading more. Not worth it to me.
I bought or received this book through BookBub.com. It took me a while to get to it. Once I started it, I had a hard time putting it down. Wish I had read No. 1 in the trilogy first. I'll read it now, and then will read No. 3. Lots of interesting twists, and the basis of the story really ought to make every reading consider the Black Ops of our government and of every government.
I really enjoyed this story, unfortunately, you have to read book 3 to find out how it all ends. Brearton is a born story teller. His characters are believable and human. Lots of suspense with a rapid-fire pace that makes it hard to put down. Looking forward to the conclusion.
ConfusingI found this book to be fragmented and confusing. Too much of the writing seemed to go on and on about the main character's thoughts and it left the reader with big gaps of ??? A good mystery catches me and pulls me in within the first couple paragraph as paragraphs and then I can't put the book down until I've read the last page. This book didn't do that.
Too much paddingThat old saying, "Why use 10 words when 100 will do?" Springs to mind. The constant use of obscure words is also frustrating. I found myself skipping lots of pages, without losing the plot, for what that was worth. Not the best use of my time, I'm afraid.
I've been eagerly devouring anything written by T.J. Brearton in the last few months, and for me this book did not disappoint. I love that the author really knows his way around Westchester County, where a lot of book takes place. It really adds a sense of realism, where I can actually picture the locations in the various parts of the book. Too often you will read a book where you can tell that author did little to no research about the places their book visits, and it really takes away from the...
A most excellent 5 star read, again! wow, that is some thrilling, pulse pounding turn the page as fast as you can stuff.... Conspiracy theories, bad guys, good guys, who knows what kind of guys. "Change of clothes, a goddamn buzz cut, and she would go and find him. But first, she slept" Really? So glad she can sleep! Good thing I have book 3 of this trilogy ready to go.
Sensational second in a trilogySo the first was intense, and this was double the intensity, with some heart palpitations all in one! Explosive writing!!
Great readI am really enjoying this series!! There is so much going on it’s hard to keep up with. There’s lot of twists and turns too. Can’t wait to read the next one!!
Great BookI can’t wrap my head around living like this individual, however this is really intriguing. The lot thickens and makes you want t continue reading this series.
I enjoyed the first book in the series so much, I was glad to see that this will be a trilogy! This second book picks up where the last left off, and it's packed full of action. Really enjoyable. I did get a little lost with some of the political rhetoric in the story, and sometimes it felt like the characters were espousing the author's views on things maybe? But I do like the overall plot of the story, and the political machinations work for what's going on. I look forward to the third book! Y...
Suspense and Intrigue. I love the way this story comes together. Brendan, always seems to be one step away from danger. Yet, even in those dangerous situations, he manages to assemble clues. Whilst being miles away from from putting it together, he manages to keep on toiling away trying to solve this case. It is only the second part of the trilogy, so we know we have a bit to go, before we work it all out, but the story is intriguing enough, to get us sucked in enough, to want to read the final
AnswersAdventure and intrigue surround Branden as he tries to figure out how his friend detective Argon died. It leads him to some answers and some near misses with death for him, a government agent and his new friend Sloan. He is still in danger and is not sure what to do. Time for book three for the rest of the story. Great second book in the series.
Awesome SeriesTotally captured my interest!! This novel is basically a continuance of the first book of this series and was impossible to put down. I'm on my way to download the third book as I must know what is going to happen to Healy.
Really?? Oh ya, so real it's scary!!!Ok... Now I can't wait to read the next book, the final chapters to end the trilogy?? All that's going through my mind is, can this be real?? I can only hope not??
The loose ends from the first book are picked up here but the narrative is slow moving and there is not a proper ending - I am drawn to go straight into the next book. Enjoyed this, but it is an episode not a stand-alone book.
