While basic, the essays at the beginning were interesting, especially Bantjes' essay on typography and the projects and snippets at the last portion of the book were a good insight into the varying ways people approach projects and bring them to completion. It made me feel not so crazy for the way I attack design.

A nice book for beginners if they want to grab the surface of graphic design. However, I think the essays could be a bit deeper and have more knowledge in it. What I would really appreciate is the in-depth process of each project shown in this book, since normally many graphic design books only give information around 1-3 paragraphs max. Therefore, I could learn something from it.
This book is filled with very succinct opinions of those in the design industry which may be more of interest for those who are an absolute beginner to design. Even though I consider myself a beginner, I found the excerpts interesting but ultimately too simple and unfulfilling.

More of a survey of the personal viewpoints of top designers, rather than a true "basics" book, but it's still worth reading.
