Year: 2336. Humanity has expanded into the stars, and colonised dozens of worlds in a system far from Earth. Despite their rapid expanse, humanity remains alone in the universe. One hundred years earlier, ancient and alien artefacts were discovered. These artefacts, Phase Corridors, allow travel into a universe running in parallel with the one we know. Upon their discovery, human society splintered. Those too terrified to make use of the Phase Corridors instead held to Old World beliefs, seeing the Corridors as threats to humanity's survival. Others saw the Phase Corridors as gifts left behind by an ancient race for us to discover. Most, saw fortunes to be made.
One such opportunist is Royce Bonjour; the inter-dimensional treasure hunter extraoradinaire. Taking any work that comes, Royce is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Along with his partner in crime, the hard fighting and hard drinking Veronica "Icky" Joubert, they manage to scrounge a meagre living while dodging bullets, killers and fellow thieves.
After their latest job goes south, they find themselves in debt to their employer. Broken up, and sent on two different adventures, both Royce and Icky will have to find whatever shred of humanity still exists within them, while contending with debilitating plagues, sadistic killers, heavily armed death squads and a deep-rooted conspiracy that threatens the very survival of humanity.
