Schlock! Webzine Vol. 6, Issue 8

Schlock! Webzine Vol. 6, Issue 8

Rob Bliss
3/5 ( ratings)
This week we're celebrating that most occult of ceremonies, Walpurgisnacht, Beltane, or, if you're at all opposed to the iron heel of the capitalist jackboot, the night before International Workers' Day.

And in keeping with the Walpurgisnacht theme, we have Bram Stoker's short story Dracula's Guest, about an Englishman venturing into the sinister depths of Eastern Europe under the mistaken impression that his nationality makes him immune to the threat of the Undead. Then Gary Murphy enters the world of poetry with a characteristic ghoulish twist, while Donald R Broyles eschews his Dunsanian prose poetry for a horror short story. This is followed by newcomer Dave Ludford and his grisly tale of Skinnybones.

The Days of Mr Thomas continues. In The Thousand and One Nights, Nazhat al-Zaman continues to discourse most eloquently on the policy of king. In Cut, Kreese's hacking leads him to horrifying discoveries in cyberspace. In The Nightmare of Horror Lagoon, Eve and Eddie are swimming through the underwater cavern. Worldwide anarchy breaks out in The Iron Heel as labour confronts the oligarchy. And in Crocodile and Leopard, Candace leads a mercenary army in revolt against the current rulers of Axum.
