In the Shadow of Abraham

In the Shadow of Abraham

Nick Conner
5/5 ( ratings)
In ancient times God spoke to a man named Abraham, telling him to leave his land and his own people and go to a place that God would show him. God gave this man a new name - Abraham - which means "father of many nations" and made a promise to bless many people through his life.

In 1966 Art and Claudia Carlson also received a call from God to Israel and, like Abraham, they believed. Sponsored by a Jewish agency that helped supply volunteer labor for kibbutzim, Art packed up his young family and made the journey by air, land, and sea to Israel in 1968.

As he observed Jewish youth groups coming to work on the kibbutz, Art was inspired to bring Christian young people from around the world to work as volunteers in Israel. This vision seemed to tangibly fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah to the nation of Israel "...foreigners shall come and be your vine-dressers and your herdsmen..." . Slowly God unfolded His plan and in 1970 the vision for Project Kibbutz was birthed.

After so many years of animosity and distrust between the Jewish people and the Church, young Christians were humbling themselves to serve the Jewish people, showing them the same mercy their Lord showed when He lived among the "seed of Abraham". From Israel, many of these same servants went to the "ends of the earth" to practically demonstrate the love of God and be ambassadors of good will.

Abraham heard God's voice and responded in faith. Art and Claudia Carlson have walked in his shadow... and as a result their lives have blessed many nations. This is the story of their incredible journey and the faithfulness of an awesome God.
