The Astonishing Tales of Kid Occult #1

The Astonishing Tales of Kid Occult is a graphic novel following Billy Robinson, a.k.a. the Kid, 15-year-old sidekick to Professor Occult, the world’s preeminent mystical master. At least Billy always believed him to be. The Kid’s confidence in that fact is shaken as the series opens and Professor Occult and the Kid are arrested for multiple counts of assault and murder. As they are arrested Professor Occult suffers a massive heart attack and is rushed to the hospital, and the Kid is detained for questioning. During the course of his interrogation, the Kid’s confidence in the sanity and piety of the Professor begin to falter. Billy escapes and finds the Professor at a nearby hospital in a drug induced daze rambling, seemingly about nonsense, and demanding that Billy run for his life.

The story follows the Kid as he travels across the country: encountering the Professor’s former allies, avoiding capture, meeting a new generation of heroes, and finding that Professor Occult was not held in the highest regard by most members of the superhero community.
