In 2008, a group of schoolboys from the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle, went on a World Challenge expedition to the Kyrgyz Republic, in the heart of Asia, for four weeks. This is an account of basically what happenned, but also an attempt to connect with the idea of being adolecsent, and an exploration of nostalgia.
From the basic displaced teenager troubles of 'who's going to cook for me now?' and 'do we have enough money?' to more pressing concerns of arrest by the local police, football matches against isloated towns, surviving dangerous drives, climbing mountains, escaping collapsing buildings, fighting off cows and knocking down schools, hopefully there is something for everyone to relate to in this, and if not, well, it's a nice story of what Kyrgyzstan or World Challenge is like for any budding adventurers!
