The kind of fun, funny and heartfelt story I've come to expect from Adventure Time these days. A great (if very quick) read for any Adventure Time fans, especially Marceline fans (and Jake's there too, in all his awesome Jake-y-ness)
A fun, clever, hilarious and utterly bonkers 'Adventure Time' comic that's also kind of touching. 'Adventure Time: Seeing Red' stars Marceline and Jake in their time in the Nightosphere (the Underworld, or hellhole, basically, only nuttier). Their adventure is Marceline's family-get-together-turned-quest to find her missing legendary bass guitar/axe. There are: rock bands, witches, video game aesthetics, table tennis, a little male bellhop who's romantically obsessed with Jake, and all around sp...
3 starsMarceline the Vampire Queen and Jake the Dog quest to find Marceline's missing bass guitar!... which sounds rad but ends pretty lamesauce with cheese aplenty between Marceline and her dad. It just didn't have the quirkiness and laughs I expect from Adventure Time, so I felt it was the weakest of the three in the series so far.Overall, the Adventure Time comic series by Ryan North is better than the Adventure Time: Original Graphic Novel series by Danielle Corsetto, but within Corsetto's s...
Why is every story involving Marceline so dang emotional? 😭
Oh my glob, this was such a great story!I loved Marceline's family and the backstory about her axe.Her dad was great! Also, the nightosphere was WILD before her dad took over:
Stuff I Read - Adventure Time OGN Vol 3: Seeing Red ReviewAh, Adventure Time. Between the main series and the constant specials and mini series, there still isn't enough to fill the lumpy hole inside me for more from the setting. Luckily the OGNs being put out are great and provide an amazing taste of Adventure Time while shining the spotlight on characters other than just Finn and Jake. That said, this volume does feature Jake the Dog quite heavily, though it focuses much more on Marceline in h...
What a wonderful, happy-making book. I love Marceline, and any chance to learn more about her is a chance I'll take. Her relationship with her father and extended family is explored with such care and thoughtfulness. There's no pat resolution or silly insta-forgiveness, but there's growth of characters and relationships, and so, so much heart. Bonus points for Jake's continuing, vocal feminism and open-mindedness, too. Love that guy.The short that follows, 'LSP's Purse,' is worth the price of ad...
Marceline and Jake go in search of her missing bass, its secret origin being revealed en route, in a story which gets surprisingly heartwarming towards its close. Also features a demon bellhop whom I could hear only as Peter Lorre.
This was way too stilted and confusing to make for a coherent plot. The panels didn't work cohesively together, and while the jokes were on par with how the show usually goes, it didn't have the same flow.
Such a cute and sweet story. Really enjoyed this one.
The art was solid, but the portrayal of the characters and the story in general was pretty weak.
LOVED THIS. All the Marceline fun.
A really fun little read.
Beautifully drawn and an enjoyable foray into my favourite queer vampire's backstory. There's a lot of "I left small town America bc it wasn't big enough for me" vibes and I really enjoy it.
I like Marceline, so I liked seeing her get some guitar-related screen time.
I love this book. I consider it Canon to the TV Show. It's amazing on having Marceline teaming up with Jake going on an adventure in The Nightosphere to retrieve her Ax Bass. The relationship between Marceline and Jake in this Graphic Novel reminds me of Drake and Josh. I loved that we saw more of Marcy's relationship with her obnoxious and so called "Evil" but really weird father. This should have been a Two-Part Episode
I'm always in a constant state of ambivalence about whether I should count comics on my goodreads. Do they count as books read? Yeah, I guess... but, also... no? But I decided in the end that the main reason I review and count books on here is to keep track of things and I want to keep track of comics too. So here ya go, Goodreads goal, a super cute graphic novel featuring Marceline the Vampire Queen. I like Adventure Time, I do. I just think maybe at this point it's gone on a little long. A lot...
'Seeing Red' is the third book in the black & white series of Adventure Time Original Graphic Novels. This one follows Marceline and Jake. Jake is at a loose end because Finn must help Princess Bubblegum with something and Jake can't. So when Marceline asks him to hang out, he's there! Marceline has lost her axe - her beloved bass guitar - and needs to travel to where she must have left it, her father's place. Marceline and Jake go on a convoluted hunt for who has the axe now!A cute instalment bu...
A cute and breezy Adventure Time story featuring the BEST CHARACTER (fite me) and revelling aptly in her brand of punk rock girl power and debilitating dad issues. Which, penned by one of the foremost lady-types in comic books right now, makes for an excellent graphic novel. Also, Jake is there.
Okay was bummed about the no color thing. But DUH Kendra I guess there’s no color in the night! But I liked getting to see more of Marceline and her dads relationship. And her fun song about her dad eating her fries.
