As investigators of the weird, Myron Piper and Richard Ockham are immersed in adventure and mystery when their plane crashes near the Rocky Mountain village of Scenic Valley. A blizzard has cut off the town’s roads and communications, and as the storm and isolation stretches into weeks, the food stores run low and desperation simmers. The townsfolk form factions ranging from precautionary to outright fanatical and it soon becomes clear that the blizzard is but one symptom of a larger danger, but can the fanatics be right? Is the town on the verge of a supernatural apocalypse?

Richard and Myron don’t don't believe the end is quite so nigh, and they set out to diffuse the problem. All they have to do is get past the hypnotist, the invisible stalkers, the crooked cop, the mysterious meteor, a kidnapping, another plane crash, a mountain of plants and animals, and an army of doomsday fanatics, all while unraveling the mystery before the locals lose control and the bullets fly. It’s just that simple.
