The American Girl advice books and manuals always seem to give excellent help, and the succor afforded by this volume runs right in that vein. The American Girl Company had received so many letters from kids all around the world who plaintively requested assistance in personal matters, that the company decided it would be a good idea to create a book comprised of such letters that represented common issues, so that they could could respond to the inquiries with thought and deep insight. I think
it has a lot of good advice
most of the advice holds up, but there are a few big misses (for example, one letter from a little girl being bullied about her weight by classmates advised her to diet & exercise)
good
There is generally good advice in here, but man when they get it wrong they get it wrong hard core. There is one question in particular about gangs that they completely miss the boat on. However, for less serious things, they give sensible advice.
I purchased several kid's books for a school library. This one is sort of Dear Abby for kids. Well done as you would expect from the American Girl Library.
I learned allot from this book.I recommend this to any GIRL. (not BOY)
Honestly pretty good advice that can transcend ages of all women. Also has some great non-technology ideas for boredom.
