Trudi was born in the 1920s and raised by her grandparents. She called her grandfather Opa, and in his clock shop, their customers could feel magic in the air and see it in his ornate clocks and other mechanical marvels. At an early age, Trudi became Opa’s apprentice and soon mastered his trade. Even after fifteen years at his side, Opa had yet to reveal the secrets of his clocks. A few weeks before Christmas, Trudi finds herself alone and faced with debt collectors, anxious customers, and strange noises in the night.

While A Seldith Christmas includes a few characters from The Seldith Chronicles series, it can be read on its own. It is primarily set in a small town on the coast of Maine in 1939. It’s a time of world tumult, where life seemed simple for some, but could be deadly dangerous for those fleeing oppression or those seeking to expose the truth. We follow Trudi, a young woman raised and apprenticed by Opa, her grandfather. He’s an aging clocksmith—the last of a long line of Austrian clock masters. While Opa’s creations are beautiful and entertainingly animated, the old man has closely guarded the secret behind their seemingly magic jewels, gears, and tiny inner workings.
