In the future, a portion of humanity has migrated to Mars, establishing a grand city in the sky. To adapt to the Martian environment, these people have undergone genetic modifications. However, even in this new world, disparities in wealth and class still exist.
A small group, considered to possess superior genes, gradually became the rulers of this city, while others became ordinary citizens. The lowest class comprised of those who had been infused with animal genes and designated as servants to the nobility from the start. They were referred to as "Chimeras". They resided in the impoverished lower town, where not only were their living conditions abysmal, but they were also brainwashed by the aristocrats, deprived of their self-awareness.
The protagonist of the story, Alice, is an ordinary girl. As a child, she was brought into the noble circle and served as a court maid, growing up alongside the Duke's son, Alan Blackswood. Despite their stark difference in status, they fell in love. Alan, against all objections, was determined to marry Alice.
However, when Alice visited Earth and met different people, especially the cheerful boy, Lucius, she gradually began to form her own thoughts and developed self-awareness.
Choosing Alan meant opting for a better life and a Cinderella-like fairy-tale love, while choosing Lucius represented the choice of freedom. So, who will Alice choose?
