A lady was walking down the street; nothing to special, just a regular, gray, monotonous work Monday. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted something glistening in the sun. She picked it up and realized it was a diamond. Not just any diamond, but one that could change her life forever. No more work, no more living pay check to pay check, no more monotonous Mondays.
Continuing her walk to work, she was stopped by the usual homeless man. Per usual, she gracefully said no and kept walking. A few steps later, she stopped, turned around and walked back to the homeless man. Handed him the diamond with one request, return this favor to someone in need. She turned around and continued on to work. The homeless man, without words, sat there and starred at the diamond. He began making plans for his future.
When leaving work, the lady was once again stopped by the homeless man. He handed her back the diamond and asked her for one thing in return, “I want what’s inside of you. I want what made you stop, turn back, and give me the diamond that could have changed your life”. She simply responded, “You already have it, you just needed a reminder”.
It doesn’t take much to change the world. It doesn’t take much too positively affect the life of another. Say hello to your neighbors, listen to those who have something to say, encourage those in need, always give positive re-enforcement, comfort when called upon, ask questions, give the homeless a chance. It’s not what you say or what you do; it’s the action that’s important. It’s how you say it and how you do it. People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Your actions on a daily basis can positively affect the life of another. Your actions can change the world for the better.
I hope the intertwining stories of the characters in this book leaves an impression on you. An impression that allows you to become better each and everyday. An impression that gives you the energy, guidance, motivation, inspiration and love to better yourself and those around you.
