§ Boldini was trained from childhood by his father, Antonio Boldini, a religious artist. He was also influenced by the Macchiaioli, a group of realist painters in Florence.
§ Boldini was friends with Edgar Degas.
§ In 1889, at the Paris Exposition he was nominated commissioner, for which he received the Legion d'honneur.
§ Boldini became known as the “Master of Swish” due to his flowing style of painting.

Portrait of Lady Colin Campbell, The Black Sash, Portrait of Madame Hugo, and her son.
