Really enjoyed "Certainty," "Cure Us of Prayers," and "The Vomiting Incident." The rest were largely insufferable, like creative writing class exercises.
Again, like the previous Balik Kampungs, there are promising ideas and even a few full gems of stories in this volume. A troll under a bridge at Ang Mo Kio! A woman who killed her baby! A lady who turns two-dimensional! Angels in Balestier (though I really disliked the obtuse, indulgent philosophical meanderings in this one)! Stories that clamber into your head and sit there.
