Seeking History's Individual Cities: Moscow and St. Petersburg

Seeking History's Individual Cities: Moscow and St. Petersburg

David Hammons
0/5 ( ratings)
From Moscow to Istanbul in bars and museums the whole way through, I trekked the paths of history on a $20 pair of shoes. In the span of 36 days I visited 10 different countries questing with a sensational hunger for places of historical note so that I might understand and experience all that could be learned in sites both well-traveled and near forgotten. Blisters and hangovers and even angry Greek communists couldn’t stop me, and I’d love to share with you my fascinating experiences and thoughts on the fall of the three empires I saw.

Every night during my journey I would write a journal of my experiences and publish them online. Family and friends read along and became drawn in to the presence of the scenes and wonders. Utilizing this method, I have assembled my journals for your enjoyment to experience along with me as if we were sitting down and sharing my tale the day it happened. Come along! Together we shall seek history and all its life-affirming tales.

This is the tale of my arrival in Moscow, Russia onto St. Petersburg and the beginning of my journey. From jumping at the sight of Russian police to horribly translating the language, this eye-opening handful of days shows a truly different world.
