One of the best depictions of mental illness. Matt Fraction took arguably one of the most boring and basic Marvel protagonists and turned him into one of my favorite characters.
I'm not sure this book is what I actually read. It's hard cover with nothing but purple targets on the covers and spine, no title. The art varied and was okay though some had terrible colors/shades. I liked seeing the story of a superhero without super powers that had been among those with all kinds of super powers (Avengers like Thor, Captain America, etc.). I liked seeing what he did, what his life was like, how he coped. It was worth reading but not great. And fortunately or unfortunately my v...
Surprised by how good it actually was. Super hero comic books wise, I tend to gravitate towards the old/Classic stories, but I'll definitely continue on with the series as this was great. I enjoyed the drawing style, the way memories are mixed with the present time, and how invasive the colours were. The writing was good, and the drawing, even though a bit too simplistic, appropriate. I also really liked the characterization of the setting, which is New York, obviously, a very interesting settin...
Now I must read them all.
That is a way to start a series!
A gritty view of humanity with a side of hope, the way all good Hawkeye stories should be.
I don’t like that it jumps back and forth between the past and the present.. but I knew where it was going because it was leading up to what happened with the dog!!
"I'm an orphan raised by carnies fighting with a stick and a string from the Palaeolithic era." - that's almost all you need to know about Clint Barton. Clint's self-deprecating humour as he deals with characters such as the "tracksuit mafia", Russians who continuously say "bro" until you can't get it out of your head like it's some frightening chant, is absolutely what makes this series. Not only this, but Clint standing up to help people in his apartment building makes him feel more human than...
That was the way to start a series!
"Okay. This looks bad."Except that this was really fun and entertaining. I have to admit I'm somewhat of a newbie to comics-- though I read and enjoyed the Sandman series, Watchmen, and a couple other graphic novels, I haven't read many other comics. I like a lot of the Marvel movies, though, and I'd heard a lot of good things about this series through tumblr, so I figured I'd give it a try. I'm very glad I did. This first volume is funny, action-packed, and (in my non-expert opinion) very well d...
I just finished reading my first comic ever! I know I'm kinda late to the party, but I have been wanting to read comics ever since my good friend had introduced me to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I fell in love instantly. I thought it would be tricky to start reading comics since I didn't know where to start from, but the Hawkeye series sounded just right! (Also my friend recommended this one to start with) l'm glad I listened, he's funny, he's witty, he's sooo damn good, I absolutely loved it...
Bro, this was so cool, bro. Clint is the definition of bae, bro. Bro.Bro. I can't wait to read more, bro.Bro.
I love pizza dog bro
I was on an MCU marathon and suddenly wanted to read comics about the Avengers, so I decided to start with Hawkeye, whom I don't know very much about. In this series, Clint is not like the one on MCU, (view spoiler)[happily, if secretly, married with kids (hide spoiler)], but lives alone in a building with a landlord who seems to want to evict everyone.Clint has just gotten out of the hospital, I'm assuming after an Avengers battle that left him with quite a few broken bones, and upon his return
JUST A BOY AND HIS DOG. MATT HOW DARE YOU.
A really fun run: this is Hawkeye, on his own, and a lot of it isn't superhero shenanigans. It's him, and his building, about to be evicted, it's him saving a dog, it's him, recovering from injuries. And yet, it's still fun and meaningful and a pleasure to read: Fraction has a good handle on the character and having read this before, I know it's a slow burn but a good story. The art is gorgeous and the colors are hard to place: sometimes muted, sometimes almost glaringly bright, but always perfe...
So Bro, somehow I missed this series so far and it's the perfect time to read this series after all in few months we would be getting the Disney+ series based on this series. So, Bro, this one is a nice introduction to Clint's life when he isn't being an Avenger. This jumps around from one scene to other and I can't wait to read the rest of the issues and then enjoy the series when it's finally released. And Bro how can I forget the Pizza Dog?I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will al...
PIZZA DOG!!!!
What kind of person pushes a dog into traffic?Clint <3
Matt Fraction's run on Hawkeye explores the everyday struggles of Clint Barton's personal life when he's not busy doing Avenger things. Hawkeye is the underdog of the Avengers, he has no superpowers or notable abilities, he's just the guy in a costume that knows how to sling arrows. There's some trouble brewing in the new apartment complex he's recently moved into. His lovable neighbors are being threatened and harassed by a gang of mobsters who took control of the apartment and are running ever...
