Out of the oven and into the frying pan!! That seems to be the best that Derek and Sofia can hope for at this point in their journey, and with new players factoring in, things are only getting more complex. A Shadow of Light brought to light even more struggles thanks to Sofia's newly discovered immunity and Derek's abandoning of the Shade to go save her from the Oasis. Things weren't looking good right from the start, and with Borys, Ingrid, and Gregor still on the loose, I was really nervous a...
Of all the books in this series this book is the least of my favorite. Derek came across so whiny and acting like a little female instead of the Alpha that he is/was in the first 3 books. I get that his love for Aophia is supposed to change him and make him better but this dude was acting like a straight wuss. Very rarely does a male character get on my nerves but Derek got on my LAST nerves. I wanted to smack him upside the head so many times. I also didnt like how long Sophia and Derek were ap...
Okay, I'm going to say this as plainly as I can. If you don't mind grammatical errors, and depth of character isn't necessary for you, then you might enjoy this book. If you like a fast read, and don't like getting bogged down in details and descriptions, again, this book might be up your alley. If you like super-sweet-syrupy romance, again, you might be staring at a winner. And if you have a thing for vampires, and merely want to be entertained, without too much thinking, I implore you to read
This was another action packed and informative installment in the Shade of Vampire series! Aside from all of the turmoil going on at The Shade we got quite a bit of historical information on some of the supporting characters which I found very interesting. We got a very deep look into the relationship between Sofia’s parents, how it started, how it ended and what happens once they are back under the same roof now that Ingrid is being held prisoner by the hunters. Talk about a demented relationsh...
Review also posted at Ja čitam, a ti?Like I said the last time, when I reviewed A Castle of Sand, one of my favorite thing here is that the author knew exactly when to stop the story in one book and when to continue with the next one. All books in this series have some minor (so to say) problems they deal with, while the whole series has bigger issues that are presented in all books. In last book we caught a glimpse of all sides in this complicated world. It's way bigger than only vampires vs pe...
3 Separation during the majority of the book starsA Shadow of Light is the forth book in the A Shade of Vampire series. I will have to say, this was not my favorite book in the series. Yet again, Derek and Sofia separate and this time, it’s much longer than last time. Also, we get several POV’s in this book and it gave me major whip lash. I sometimes forgot which POV was reading and I had to go back to the original chapter and read again.I have a major pet peeve when it comes to Heroine and Hero...
A Shadow of Light is told from several POV's, each chapter switching to a different person. For much of the book, I found this somewhat distracting. It just seemed like the book was disjointed, didn't flow. But, towards the end, all the characters come together and it worked a lot better by that point. But, with that said, I was glad to be back with Sofia and Derek. It starts out with Sofia being held at the Hunter's headquarters. Derek has left her there. He has convinced himself that it is bes...
Bella Forrest has done it again. This book can easily be read in a day and only took me longer because of being pregnant and having a family to take care of lol. I guess they need to eat and have clean clothes lol! I really do love Sophia and Derek and am really pulling for them. Derek has been taken to the hunter headquarters and the shade is falling apart and is in udder chaos. His alligances are being questioned and war is about to break out. Sophia is being held captive with the hunters and
Not bad for the fourth book.OMG, guys, I am so excited with this ending. Two of the people I hated, died. Yup, that's excitement right there! Other than that, Sofia and Derek were a bit frustrating in this book. It's like they continue to make dumb ass decisions when they aren't together... and it just makes me roll my eyes. Then there's Ingrid, ugh, and Claudia. Now Claudia definitely got on my good side in this book. As for Ingrid, I can't wait for that bitch to die. She's a terrible mother to
Starting to feel a little “meh” towards the series...Taking a break from it to see if that makes a difference!
Favourite Line(s) “She was Derek’s choice. She was the light that he chose over the darkness.”“I guess I was hoping that by being here, he could see what we saw here at The Shade.” Ashley stopped in her tracks. “And what exactly do we see here?” “Hope.”“I’m with you, Derek. I’m right here with you.” “Always?” “For as long as I have breath.”This goes with out saying but, BELLA FORREST HAS DONE IT AGAIN!! Sophie has had it (me too) with the men in her life always doing what THEY think is best for
Theses books r just pure addiction at it's best. I cannot stop reading them.
I can’t get enough of The Shade! A Shadow of Light was yet another amazing installment in A Shade of Vampire series. The stakes were even higher; the conflict was even more impossible. There is never a dull moment, a lull, or a moment of predictability. Bella Forrest is on a roll with her books and this one does not disappoint! The story began where A Castle of Sand ended. Sofia’s reunion with her mother and father in hunter territory was less than traditional, but having her mother, Ingrid, and...
Finished this in one day. Could not put it down.A riot among the humans. A siege at the port. A kingdom on the brink of civil war while still facing the threat of an attack from outside forces at any moment.
This fourth installment takes us into the family of Sophia. Her father, a hunter wants to keep her away from Derek, but is hesitant because he's sees the attachment she has formed, the trusting bond with Derek. Her mother, want's nothing more than to rid her life of Sophia, she has felt threatened by her since the day she had been born, her husband showing his love for Sophia more than to his wife.Derek is conflicted. Since he first took his taste of her blood, he has become addicted. He never m...
I have thoroughly enjoyed the first three books in this series but this one suddenly added a multitude of POVs. We are now following not only Sophia and Derek's story but also Aiden's , Ingrid's, Claudia's, Vivienne's... The list goes on and they all have recurring chapters! Good heaven's, it's frustrating! Could we just get back to the main story with secondary characters staying secondary?!? Gah!
Ahhhhhhhhh this series is killing me!!!!!!! I really love it. Each book is just more intense and dark and emotional and mind-blowing than the last. So much happens in this book and by the end, you've already pulled all your hair out and lost a bunch of teeth from the stress and battle you've had with yourself. I'm so glad I didn't take it out on my kindle, but Christ! What fucking more can these two poor characters go through?I think I'm gonna take a short break before staring the next book. So
Gosh this series is so freaking awesome!!I will say that I am happy that they decided to give some background abut Ingrid and Aiden. It was good to see that even though she acted like she was just an unfeeling woman , Ingrid was still deeply in love with Aien and Aiden still in love with her.In this installment, Sofia and Derek are away from each other. Sofia is with the Hunters and her mother and father. Her father who is training her to fight the vampires no matter how much she tells him that
The plot is excruciatingly boring, what little there appeared to be anyway... This book needs better editing as well. It reads like fanfiction and I really don't need to hear how much so-and-so loves so-and-so on every page. I get it, Derek loves Sophia and vice versa. But is a reminder every 2 minutes necessary? The multiple POVs were extremely annoying in this respect too. Half a dozen POVs is annoying as it gets, but to top it off, practically everyone who gets a POV loves someone and you'd b...
Derek saved Sophia from the explosion at the Oasis, same place where Sophia set eyes on her estranged father Reuben and mother after so many years. Derek plans to never part ways from Sophia again so he follows her to the hunter headquarters where her father is in charge. Many things happen and Derek finds himself return to the Shade without Sophia. Meanwhile, Sophia is blaming her father knowing well Derek would never leave on his own accord. Returning to the Shade seems slim to none but she set...
