I liked this book, It has a bunch of short comics great for just trying some comics out. I also liked it because I got to read some comics I had never read before. I would recommend this to someone else as a book to pass the time.

A collection of short stories from several of our favorite authors and all of them are about recess! Students will love this book and Mrs. Richards will have to buy several copies for us.

Not every story was 5 out of 5 stars, but there were some pretty amazing short stories in this comic. I loved the last one that had the kids playing around of D&D for recess since they couldn't go outside and have a actual kickball game. It's a fun collection of stories by different artist and authors. It would be a huge hit with my Middle Schoolers.

3.5? I did like it but I think collections like this just aren't my style as much as stand-alone comics. The kiddo would probably have given it a 4; he's already eager for the next book (which appears to center around lunch).

Super cute collection of short bits by the monsters in the kids GN world. Especially notable for the myriad Raina Telgemeier and Babymouse completists. Telgemeier's selection is about a D&D game, so that's cool. And this is the first time I've actually read a Babymouse story myself (I know, I know). The book Comics Squad: Recess is about all of these diffrent comics that are put together in one book. One of the comics is about a club that calls themselfs the Super Secret Ninga Club and, a little boy who wants to join. Over winter break he trains hard but, when it's back to school the Super Secret Ninga Club doesn't play ningas anymore they all play kickball.There are so many more comics in that book. I reccomend this book for anyone who like a little laugh and some cool comics.

I can’t believe I hadn’t read this before! I recommended the series to students based on authors who contributed, knowing this would be a quick, easy, funny read for them. Last year around this same time I fell into a bit of a reading slump (yes, it happens to everyone) and I picked up a little comics selection called Comics Squad: Detention hoping that it would revive me. This was a cute compilation of graphic novellas from some of my favorite authors - with the theme of recess. Gene Luen Yang's Super Secret Ninja Club story was by far my favorite. It just had the essence of all his other graphic novels. Raina Telgemeier's story about kickball RPG-style was incredible. It was so much fun and the poke at the former VP made me giggle. You'll see what I mean when you read it (it's one of those things that kids may not get, but adult definitely will).

This graphic novel includes eight stories around the theme of recess. This book and the stories inside are very focused on comedy and parody. There are ninjas, talking squirrels and cupcakes, and even aliens. This wasn't my favorite book, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. Maybe it is the fact that I'm not used to reading this genre, but I would recommend it to older elementary school kids.

I’m really enjoying these new vignettes from my favorite graphic novelists. And I’m interested in the Lunchlady series. My favorites were Yang’s, the Lunchlady, and Telgemeier’s. Looking forward to the Detention one if we get it in the library.

I was craving some graphic novels, so I borrowed this from the library. I love all the artists in the book that I knew of, and discovered a new one! I want to find more of this series, and also get them for the school library.
