Bland. There were some stories that almost lit up the fire in the book, but they just couldn't spring the book to life.
Short story anthologies number among my guilty pleasures, and it was impossible to resist when two of my favourite South African bookish folk – Diane Awerbuck and Louis Greenberg – put their creative minds together to bring out this selection of 31 tales. There is a little bit of everything here to please most palates, and I enjoyed not really knowing what I was getting into whenever I started a fresh tale.It’s also far beyond the scope of this review to give detailed mention for each story, so
Short Stories have a way of worming into my home. Might have something to do with working for an organisation named Short Story Day Africa. Maybe. ;-)
An engaging and eclectic (from literary to fantasy and everything in between) collection of short stories from young African writers. A good introduction to the field.
we were assigned this book from my book club. did'nt enjoy the last book, but fingers crossed on this one. I've enjoyed collections of stories in the past, so...
