Commentaries of Caesar on the Gallic War

Commentaries of Caesar on the Gallic War

Gaius Julius Caesar
3.8/5 ( ratings)
The original text reduced to the natural English order with a literal Interlinear Translation of the First Seven Books. Interlinear Translations: Caesar's Gallic Wars first appeared in 1893 © Arthur Hinds & C., The next noted © in 1924 is by Handy Book Corp. Next © in 1952 by David McKay Co., Inc., New York.

Publisher's Note: The order of the Latin version follows the natural order of English, and those words that are understood in the original are supplied. This system has proved of great help in understanding Latin grammar and the construction of a Latin sentence.

Preface: In preparing the Classic Series of Interlinear Translations the publishers have insisted upon a faithful adherence to two obvious essentials: the reduction of the original text to the natural order, and, as far as possible, a strictly literal version.

In all cases, however, where the meaning as thus literally rendered in not sufficiently intelligible, explanatory words or phrases have been added.
