Boots by the Door: a police children's book (Boots by the Door books)

Michelle Johnson
0/5 ( ratings)
This police children's book is about two young brothers that find their police dad’s boots by the door. They are excited, because it means their dad is home to play with him. This police kids book takes place in the morning through the eyes of children of a police officer. They imagine what their police dad does at work- fighting crime. When their dad wakes up, they quickly tell him all about their day yesterday while he’s in uniform. He plays with them. Then, one brother waddles around the house wearing the large work boots. Then, his police dad shines the boots and puts them over his black socks to get ready to go to work. The brothers express sadness that their dad is going to work again. Their mom comforts them and tells them about all the fun things they will do that day.

Who Should Read this

This police officer children’s book is perfect for any child who loves police officers, police uniforms, and police boots. It is a great police officer book for toddlers, preschool age, children ages 3-5, 5-7, and school-age children. This book can help children to process emotions about missing their parents. This book has especially been written for children of police officers and families of police officers or first responders. There are tips at the end of the book for processing emotions as children miss their parents and may not understand why they must work nights, weekends, and holidays when other parents are typically home.

What Are Readers Saying?

“I just read it as we’re doing bedtime. He wants me to read it again!”
“It’s really sweet and kinda sad too, but I like it. It’s relatable.”
