Overall I enjoyed reading Glory, but I didn't like volume #two quite as much as the first volume. The creators decided to shorten the story; they argued that it was for the good of the story but I'm not entirely convinced it was. Especially the last few issues felt a little rushed. That said, I really like Campbell's art and there were a few moments in the book were I had to laugh out loud (the breakfast scene with dad comes to mind), since the story is pretty crazy (kind of in a good way).Even t...
Glory was a great comic and the real weakness in this volume is wrapping up such an expansive story in a handful of issues. I can only assume the abruptness of the ending was a consequence of the book being cancelled. because the first volume set up a big story and this second volume ran around wrapping everything up very quickly. It was a strong ending to the story considering all that. But it just left me wishing we had more time.
This is the second and final volume of Joe Keating's Glory Saga, and once again, Ross Campbell's art is the main selling point. Fantastic monsters, elaborate armor, and lunatic heroes populate this story of nearly endless bloodshed. It's difficult to pinpoint an actual plot after finishing the series. I am in no way clear of the justification of the endless battle scenes: why Glory's parents were previously at war with each other, why they made up, why Silverfell sent his armies to attack Glory,...
For all the Rob Liefield bashing that goes on, much of it deserved I think, the guy can create good concepts, even it it does takes others to fully realize what those concepts can be. Much like what was done by Brandon Graham with Prophet, Keatinge builds on Liefield's and Alan Moore's work on Glory, taking her from a Wonder Woman knockoff and giving the reader a much more developed mythology.Glory has a complicated family history which unfolds in this volume. Two sisters, conflict with both of
What a frustrating read! The drawing was just beautiful and the story had so much potential, but I really think Mr. Keatinge tried to fit too much into too few issues. I wish this could have been expanded to give more depth to an awesome storyline.
Kind of sad that series was cancelled after this, I would really like to read more. I think that if the series had continued, this book would be pretty different. Still, for what it is, it's pretty good. They wrap things up, while leaving some stuff open. And the end of one adventure is really just the beginning of another. As we all know, nothing really ends.
Ehhh. Really not as good as the first volume. Inconsistent art as well.
