A new terror is being unleashed in London. Mysterious, puzzling and downright macabre, teenage students are being murdered by what the police see as a deranged serial killer, who leaves bloody messages of proclamation at the scene, denouncing their victims as ‘the Fall Children.’
Aaron Light, a brilliant but unmotivated all-round university genius and poker whizz-kid, is suddenly plunged into the events set in motion when he is initially suspected of murdering a fellow resident, who happens to be the daughter of a high ranking police officer.
When Light meets Alexa Black, an unconventional yet hard-nosed detective sergeant, she convinces him that his abilities are needed, and in the meantime, he may as well help her climb the rank ladder at the tiresomely political Scotland Yard.
But the body count rises, and events hit further to home than Light would like. Secret organizations are unearthed, and a mysterious girl seems intent on challenging Light to a game of life or death. To solve the murders and the puzzle of the Fall Children, it is clear Light must gather up all of his wit and reasoning skills to survive.
