After acquiring a worn, battered binder filled with artwork by an Italian princess, an American graduate student decides to share some of these images with the world. This book provides a glimpse into the early life of Princess Lucia of Bourbon-Two Sicilies through more than sixty of her childhood and adolescent drawings and paintings. Born in Bavaria before the First World War, Lucia was raised in exile along with five siblings, her four sisters and only brother. Her father, Ferdinand Pius, Duke of Calabria, was the Head of the Royal House of Two Sicilies, and her mother, Maria, was the daughter of Ludwig III, the last King of Bavaria. Lucia returned to the land of her Bourbon ancestors when she married her cousin Prince Eugenio of Savoy-Genoa in 1938. After the fall of the Savoys, Princess Lucia and her husband settled in South America. It is not known whether Princess Lucia continued with her artistic endeavors.
