I don't know if it's because Gaiman didn't write it, but this story just didn't do much for me. It's sad because the Corinthian is a very interesting character.
"I like terrible things, I do. But I do NOT cause them. I don't need to." The Corinthian is puzzled. He's gone to Venice to learn the art of killing, but he goes to a man who seemingly cannot Kill, even during times of War. The Corinthian's purpose to learn how to kill, is still not fulfilled. His Lord died and he fell in love with The War. He does everything in his power to learn how to be a man and to kill. But what will this unfulfilled nightmare do when he has gotten what he wanted? Among the few punkish denizens of the Dreaming in Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman series, it is the Corinthian that I love to itty, bitty pieces. I can’t help it; I have a weakness for rebellious characters. He is the anthropomorphic personification of the opposite of good dreams, going AWOL when his master was imprisoned and being the classily creepy, shades-sporting, and eyeball-devouring serial killer back in The Doll’s House.
