‘What does Jack Polo do when a demonic denizen of hell comes to stay at his house? Nothing. The Yattering - the demon in question - is going crazy. He is one dangerous demon, ready to pounce...’I loved this graphic novel, so much so that I’d love to read the short story that it adapted! The illustrations made the story 5 times funnier, they were really great drawings as well, the Yattering looks both terrifying and hilarious at the same time.I must admit I would act the exact same as Jack Polo,
Another blast from the past here - this time its a Clive Barker book from the now gone bust Eclipse graphic novel range. THis one not only captures the essence of Clive Barkers works it also reminds me of the great days of 2000AD a great British comic and home of JUdge Dredd (along with many more). The artwork is atmospheric and surreal but still recognisable enough to feel realistic something I really enjoy in a graphic novel. Anyway the story - its basically a visual retelling of two stories f...
This was an amazing graphic novel with the artwork and text working beautifully together to make a cohesive and entertaining whole.
A great little package that contains adaptations of two of his best stories.THE YATTERING AND JACK 5* (Origional 5*)A great version of Barkers best story that manages to make me laugh, meaning it does its job well.HOW SPOILERS BLEED 4* (Origional 5*)The art does what it needs to, the characters look good and the story is as enthralling as ever.
This was so enjoyable to read. I'm really enjoying going through Clive Barker's graphic novels. This has two stories, which I think are adaptations from his Books of Blood series.*TRIGGER WARNING!* - Does involve scene of animal torture and death. The Yattering and Jack - A man called Jack Polo is constantly tormented by a demon called the Yattering, who wants to drive him crazy so Hell can claim his soul. Jack appears to be completely oblivious to this demon and all of it's tricks but is he real...
SO WEIRRRRRD!

Horror mit schwarzem Humor.
After Jack’s wife divorced him, he became fearless and only cared for his daughters. The Devil sends a yattering, also known as a demon, to steal Jack’s soul, or scare him into believing - believing in fear and horror. The Yattering tries - and fails to frighten Jack many times; although his plans would work on others, Jack could not be spooked. For instance, the Yattering explodes three cats in Jack’s living room, pulls small pranks on him (like turning a turkey for cooking into a turkey for ki...
"Thou shalt not lay palm......upon thy victims." (The Law. Yattering and Jack by Clive Barker)This tale was a fun short story that reminded me a lot of "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis. It is a fairly old story of the demon who fights to turn an innocent man into a corrupt soul. Barker's approach was a bit different since "The Lord of the Flies" wanted Jack's soul in payment for his mother reneging on a promise to be his and going to heaven instead. I read Clive Barker's commentary on the s...
My rating is solely for The Yattering and Jack as I wasn’t a huge fan of the additional story in here… but The Yattering and Jack is fantastic!
disclaimer: I only read 'Spoilers'.
I loved revisiting this story as a graphic novel!! 🖤
