This is one of those books that I would give to kids who liked the Dragonology Companion Books (as in not Dragonology but the smaller book that has more "information" about dragons). Only this is about Hobgoblins. The art is great. It makes me think of the Spiderwick Chronicles hobgoblins. And lots of fun "facts". Like I said, kids who like those "ology" companion books will like this.
Lots of folkloric information about these creatures; presented as if they are real. Has small lift-flaps throughout, and a couple of fold-out pages. Lots of cute illustrations.

Hobgoblins are those helpful spirits that help around the house if you keep your home well: don't be lazy, always be hospitable, fill your home with kindness, consideration, and laughter, and remember the hobgoblin with offerings. Seems like a good way to live in any event!This is a delightfully illustrated book, complete with hidden messages (bits of paper folded over that you have to lift). The four green circles on the front are half-beads, set into the cover, and there's a tassel coming off
This lovely, amazingly lavish book is a guide to hobgoblins in their many forms. Reading a book like this one, that deserves to be studied and pored over, reminds us that the physical beauty of a book cannot always be replicated in an e-version. The art is astonishing and the information is interesting. I wish the author had given some source notes, since it is hard to tell what may have been completely made up by him, and what has been pulled from literature and lore. Elementary, junior high.

Essential reading for anyone in relationship with hearth spirits, friends of good neighbours, and those wanting to befriend their house or spirit of place. Also the book is simply beautiful I loves the shiny pretties on the cover, the illustrations and illuminations are divine and the pop up, unfolding pages made for such an immersive reading experience 🧚🏻♂️🌲🏡💖
while this book has some good information, it wasn't quite what I was looking for. It's ideal for children, but doesn't get very deep into hobgoblin lore.
