Anexo informativo del primer volumen de League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Don't read LoEG Vol. 2 without this - the annotations are just as valuable as for the first books, though the supplemental material is not as exciting. Interviews with the creators are interesting as ever, though.
Not just a panel by panel description of what you see in the comics, but also has extensive writing on literall dozens of fictional literary locations, from Arkham to Pepperland. A must for any League fan.
Highly recommended. A great reference for the comics while also a great treasury of interesting literature.
Worth reading along with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Volume Two by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill.
Hey, I have the second volume of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, so I had to go and read Jess Nevins' companion volume, right? I mean, LOEG II has even more obscure references than it's predecessor, so it's almost a necessity. Like Mr. Nevins' first book, this one has all the notes you'd need to explain the lush detail of LOEG. It also features interviews with LOEG creators Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill.
This, the annotations to the second collected volume of Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, contains another forward by Moore, and interviews of both Moore and artist Kevin O'Neill conducted by Nevins. The bulk of the book, the exhaustive annotations, were originally scraped together by Nevins himself, posted on his comic book annotations website, tweaked in a collaborative effort with similarly well-versed readers of the comic, and then edited into book form. If you've read the s...
This is a review of both LoEG Vol. 2 and the Jess Nevins' accompanying 'A Blazing World'. I did not find this quite as enjoyable as the first volume. The story mostly followed the narrative of Wells' War Of The Worlds, which was still exciting enough but quite unimaginative for Moore, Perhaps because of this over-reliance on a single text, Nevins' annotations could be quite repetitive. Nevins also quotes some long passages from the original texts, which were not necessarily insightful, and didn'...
The unofficial companion to volume II of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with panel by panel explanations of literary allusions and references.
I might as well get the mean bits of the review over with first. I enjoyed 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Volume 2' even more than Volume 1 but I cannot say the same, alas, for the companion book. Jess Nevins first volume, 'Heroes and Monsters', had detailed annotations about the graphic novel but also contained several informative essays. This second companion has no such essays and the annotations are unbalanced. They are unbalanced because Alan Moore wrote a long joke on his annotator...
