In Night Stalker, Fred Regar, in his usual foul mood, stops in at his regular haunt, Deckers Saloon. He sits on a stool at the end of the bar by himself and starts drinking. An odor of rotting meat draws his attention to Justin Graves, who has suddenly appeared on the adjacent barstool. Justin says he talks to dead people. He knows about Laura, Fred's old girlfriend, and how he killed her on her wedding night. Fred doesn't believe him. Besides, he's not worried. Her husband was convicted of the murder. Texas just put him to death. Justin makes Fred an offer: turn yourself in and serve life in prison so Laura's soul can rest in peace. Fred refuses. Walking home from the bar, he is drawn to a woman's silhouette on the shade of a lighted window in an abandoned house. He thinks he's seeing things, but in reality, he's about to relive the night he killed Laura.
