There was no question about what Ken Williams would be when he grew son of a policeman, grandson of a policeman...the path was clear. But it wasn't his first choice. A born naturalist, Williams hoped to be a gamekeeper, but his father decreed otherwise. So after a stint in the Welsh Guard, he returned to Wales to be a constable in Holyhead--but his days still revolved around the care of wildlife, on and off duty. With the coming of industry to Anglesey his boyhood dream became a reality. A mining corporation gave him a stretch of woodland and rocky coastline, and his own nature reserve was opened at Penrho. Thousands of tourists, naturalists and ornithologists visit it every year.
