2013 was a special year in which I became an author of kids’ stories and books about music, creating a line between teacher and musician. Replacing hectic – with breakfast, coffee, and glam pajamas, closely followed by German Shepherd Obedience training and looking after our menagerie of cute farm animals.
In other words – I’m my own boss and can luxuriate in the opportunity to do what I want – when I want – how I want. I know, I know. I didn't have to - but I did.
And OK I admit it. The stories I write are about bush animals learning music. The ideas came from teaching young musicians and when I told them fun stories about animals learning music they thought this was ‘cool!’
The best way to teach something difficult is to hide the information within a story. And Music on the Bookshelf specializes in children’s fantasy storybooks about music. These are not meant to be tutor books; however the engaging stories contain actual musical knowledge. Old fashioned story telling that sneaks a musical education in the background.
