Originally a biochemist, Rowen Sivertsen worked for years as a science teacher in countries in conflict , and transferred to peacework with an emphasis on the role of teachers. After moving to Norway, she became director of a large Norwegian peace network, and spent many years working for human rights and peace education. Although still involved, she has taken a long sabbatical leave in order to focus on her other passions in life: song writing and science fiction are among them. She has started a small publishing company in Norway: Birch Tree Road Publishing
