James McDonough just self published his first novel in January of this year. A native of Wichita, Kansas and now a naturulized Okie, he grew up surrounded by many historic Western locations and has traveled extensively throughout the West. He is a keen student of history and avid reader.
His college years were interrupted by service in the US Army where he served as a Tank Commander, in West Germany, during the Cold War of the early 70s. Afterwards, James chose to forgo pursuing a History degree in favor of a business career and retired after a successful run of over 40 years in the Material Handling Industry.
He has built up an extensive library consisting of many volumes about Military history, the Old West, the Civil War, and a large collection of books on Custer, the 7th Cavalry and the Indian Wars. His hobbies include traveling, reading, fishing, boats, long range target shooting, and tinkering on an 1963 Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe. James is a member of the Western Writers of America
