Elenia Beretta was born in Bergamo, a small town at the foot of the mountains in the North of Italy. She grew up exploring forests. She received her Master’s Degree in Editorial Illustration in Milan at MIMaster in 2014/2015. She moved to Berlin in 2016. Her influences come from different fields such as movies, old photographs, art and literature. She works with Vogue Magazine, Süddeutsche Zeitung, The New York Times, Internazionale Magazine, Zeit Magazin, Instagram, Bloom Magazin and others. She has also illustrated food books and children’s books for Eli Readers, Rizzoli Editore, Einaudi Editore and is one of the illustrators for the 3 Volumes of Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls.
In October 2019, her first illustrated picture book, Minuit le chat du bois perdù by author Hélène Gaudy was pubblished .
In the end of 2019 She was part of the collective show Eccellenze Italiane per Gianni Rodari, at the Italian Culture Institute in Portland and San Francisco.
She is also the Co-founder of Drawing Nights Berlin .
It is an open drawing event which provides an opportunity to diminish barriers between professionals and non-professionals. Through funny, creative exercises we share, learn, and create.
