William R. Durland

Dr. Bill Durland is a retired professor of Philosophy, History and Government and a civil rights attorney, playwright, educator and activist. Durland graduated from Scarsdale High School then received a Bachelor's degree from Bucknell University in 1953. After college graduation he joined the National Security Agency as an intelligence analyst. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps from 1954 to 1957 overseas. He earned a JD degree from Georgetown Law School in 1959, and was later a Captain in U.S. Army JAG Reserve from 1966 to 1968. He served as an elected legislative representative in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1966-69. In 1975 he earned an M.A. in Biblical Theology and Nonviolence from Notre Dame University and in 1977 he received a PhD. from Union Graduate School at Antioch College in Political and Religious Philosophy. He is a member of the Bars of the United States Supreme Court and several states and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Durland is the recipient of the State of Colorado’s 1999 Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award and Bucknell University’s Service to Humanity Award. He is a legal specialist in International and Constitutional law and legal counsel on five cases reaching the Supreme Court of the United States.
